Here is a step-by-step guide on how to create Shopify product descriptions in bulk using Chat GPT without the need for any paid tools:

What you will need:

Open AI API Key
A Google Account with access to Google Sheets
Google Sheet Chat GPT Plugin (Linked Here)
Exported Shopify product catalog
COPY GOOGLE SHEET TEMPLATE HERE

Steps:

Export your Shopify product catalog. If you need help with this, watch this Shopify how-to video (link provided).
Once exported, you'll have a .csv file in your computer's download folder.
Import that .csv file to Google Sheets by selecting "File > Import > Upload File" and import it as "Insert as new sheet".
Format your page and rename it to "Exported Product List Shopify" or something similar.
At the bottom of the spreadsheet, paste your prompt in a cell (e.g., C:26).
Add the formula "=chatgpt(B1)" to the first product description column (e.g., column C) and drag it all the way down to the last product. This formula will scan the product title and generate a corresponding product description for that product cell. The formula will be highlighted in yellow.
After dragging the formula down to the last product, Chat GPT will do its work. Sit back and relax.
Review the product descriptions and export them as a CSV file.
Re-import the updated CSV file into Shopify by following the instructions on how to import products to Shopify.

The script would scan the cell and output the product description in HTML format, which I could then copy directly into Shopify.

Once I had generated all of my product descriptions, I imported them into Shopify and checked that they were properly formatted. I also made sure to preserve the data by copying and pasting values only into a new sheet.
